This work started as a collaboration between researchers with the PALEOLINK project by the PAGES 2k Network.

The data presented in this publication were compiled in WALIS, a sea-level database interface, developed with funding from the ERC Starting Grant “WARMCOASTS” (ERC-StG-802414), in collaboration with PALSEA (PAGES/INQUA) working group.

The paper is a contribution to the PAGES (Past Global Changes) Climate Reconstruction and Impacts from the Archives of Societies (CRIAS) working group.

CRIAS aims to improve methods of analysing sources and the data drawn from the archives of societies (written records, early instrumental observations, and artefacts such as flood markers) in order to better understand historical climate variability and its human dimensions. 

This work benefited from the participation of the authors in the Volcanic Impacts on Climate and Society (VICS) working group of the Past Global Changes (PAGES) project.
