Scoping Meeting for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report - Call for nomination of experts

The visibility of paleoscience in the IPCC process is essential for the paleoscience community. Whereas the IPCC AR5 had its dedicated paleoclimate chapter, this was no longer the case in IPCC AR6. Instead, paleoclimatic information was included within the text of each chapter, but the visibility and deemed relevance of paleo-science suffered.

Now, the next phase of the new AR7 cycle has started, and the call for the Working Group scoping has been issued. The deadline for scoping nominations is 7 June 2024. The scoping experts draft the outline of the Working Group chapters. This is the opportunity to keep our foot in the door.

PAGES encourages all members to actively participate in this process and to keep the flag up. Those interested in being nominated as an expert for participation in the scoping meeting should contact the relevant Focal Point of their country as soon as possible. (https://www.ipcc.ch/apps/contact/interface/focalpoints.php).

Nominations are then submitted through an online nomination tool.

Alternatively, PAGES parent organization, Future Earth, has announced a form that can be completed through them.

To apply through Future Earth to be nominated:

1) Complete this form;
