Ocean Knowledge Action Network Seeking SC Members

The Ocean Knowledge Action Network is seeking nominations for members of its inaugural Steering Committee (SC) starting February 2022.

Future earth's Knowledge-Action Networks (KANs) bring together innovators from academia, policy, business, civil society and more to address the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges.

The Ocean KAN is a modern network-of-networks that was created by a team of scientists, journalists, and stakeholders to promote the co-design and co-creation of ocean science for sustainable development. We are working directly with a number of Decade-endorsed Programmes in support of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

The SC is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of the Ocean KAN’s activities. SC members serve for a period of three years, with the potential of renewing for an additional 3-year term. The Ocean KAN Interim SC and sponsors will select the new SC members based on expertise, contribution to the geographic and gender balance of the SSC, and willingness to work in a multicultural, transdisciplinary, and multi-sectoral setting to co-design a modern network of networks to promote the co-design of ocean science for sustainable development.

More information on the role of SC members and the application process can be found at https://oceankan.org or directly at Call for Nominations to Ocean KAN SC.

Please feel free to share call widely within your networks and departments.

In addition, PAGES would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Stella Alexandroff on her new role as the Science Officer for Future earth's Ocean KAN and wish her every success. Stella also serves on the ECN Steering Committee, and is a member of several ECN clusters, as well as being involved in planning for the YSM and some 2k Network projects. Stella is perfectly qualified for her new role and PAGES looks forward to the continued relationship.
