The dates have not been finalized. The correct dates will be announced as soon as possible.

In order to create a synthesis database, the C-PEAT working group leaders plan to hold two online Happy Hour events (one for Northern Americans and one for Europeans). Everyone involved in, or who has, peat-core datasets is invited to attend. The deadline for data collection is 31 December 2021.

Description

Datasets will be gathered in whatever format they are currently in. In other words, there won't be any template you need to adhere to, as formatting will be done on the C-PEAT leaders' end. This is because of the nature of these paleo datasets: with so many different proxies, taxa, isotopes, etc., a single table that handles everything would be inefficient (and painful for everyone).

If you plan to attend, please:

(a) have each dataset saved as a csv file

(b) provide essential metadata, such as site and core name, coordinates, data contributor, etc. (see tentative list, attached); and

(c) cross-check with Pangaea and Neotoma to make sure that your peat-core data aren't already available online (this will also be done once more prior to formatting).

Due to popular demand, we will also welcome your geochemical and biochemical datasets.

Program

Dr Nicole Sanderson will be co-leading the data gathering, formatting, and analysis efforts. She is our C-PEAT data steward for the next year. If you don't know her already, you'll get the chance to meet her during the Happy Hours.
