New SISAL paper & database

New SISAL paper & database

A new data description paper for version two of the Speleothem Isotopes Synthesis and AnaLysis (SISAL) working group's database is available in Earth System Science Data.

Members of the working group, led by Laia Comas-Bru, have made updates to the first database by improving its spatio-temporal coverage and creating new chronologies using seven different approaches for age–depth modeling.

The paper documents the necessary changes in the structure of the SISAL database to accommodate the inclusion of new age models and their uncertainties as well as the expansion of the database to include new records, and the quality-control measures applied.

Access the paper here.

Version two of the SISAL database (SISALv2) contains isotopic data from 691 speleothem records from 294 cave sites and new age–depth models, including age–depth temporal uncertainties for 512 speleothems. Access the database here.
