Varve research showcased

PAGES' Varves Working Group (VWG) has published a comprehensive review of annually laminated (varved) lake sediments in Quaternary Science Reviews.
The paper showcases varve-based sedimentary research and documents unprecedented potential for environmental and climate reconstructions. The formation, composition, and sedimentary environments of varves, as well as techniques to study varves and proxy data on a calendar-year timescale are discussed in detail.
