PhD position, paleoclimate and climate modeling - Houston, TX, USA

The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Rice University, Houston, Texas, USA, seeks candidates for a funded PhD position in paleoclimate and climate modeling with a focus on African climate change.

Logistics

The researcher will work with Dr. Sylvia Dee in the Climate, Water & Energy lab at Rice.

Ideal start date is Northern Hemisphere Spring semester 2020.

Requirements

This position requires a strong background in climate science and modeling, as well as big data methods for managing paleoclimate archives.

Experience in numerical/statistical, and geospatial modeling is required.

Fluency in Python, Matlab, and Fortran, or any experience post-processing climate model output is especially valuable.
