Utrecht, The Netherlands
The PAGES' PlioVAR working group will hold a short meeting following the 12th International Conference on Paleoceanography (ICP) in Utrecht, Netherlands, on Friday 2 September from 15:00-19:00.
Venue
Apollo Hotel, Utrecht City Centre.
Registration
The group is required to confirm the number of participants with the hotel ahead of the start of ICP. If you are interested in attending, please use the following online form to register for the meeting: https://www.dur.ac.uk/geography/pliovar-workshop
There is no registration fee, thanks to financial support from PAGES, and some light refreshments will be provided.
The registration deadline is 15 August.
Meeting aims
If you are presenting Pliocene research at ICP but are unable to attend the PlioVAR workshop, we would welcome hearing the details of your presentation so that we can advertise to the rest of the working group. Details can be emailed to Erin McClymont.
The aim of the meeting will be to outline initial developments in marine data synthesis and integration, discuss where new data is required/emerging, and discuss potential milestones to meet the PlioVAR objectives. We have also proposed a session for the AGU Fall Meeting where we can continue to review our progress towards understanding Pliocene climate variability.
Pre-meeting requirements
We are looking for people to start the process of synthesising existing data in order to present preliminary findings at ICP. Our initial plan is to start by region.
Please email Erin McClymont if you would like to help to develop syntheses of marine data for one or more of the following oceans/regions: Arctic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Southern Ocean, Pacific, Indian.
If you’re an early career researcher please don’t feel shy about putting yourself forward.
